Bøn fra verden

Kærlige Gud,
jeg giver mig hen til dig.
Lad mine tanker tænke på dig,
og mine øjne se andres behov.
Lad mine ører høre verdens råd
og lad min mund fortælle
om dig.
Lad mine hænder arbejde
for dit rige
og mine fødder gå ad din sti.
Lad mit liv blive brugt
i din tjeneste
og lad mit hjerte elske dig
mere end alt andet.
Lad Herrens glæde være min
styrke til at tjene ham
alle mit livs dage.

Amen.

Bøn fra Mellemamerika

The Danish Church in London

11/12-2009

Active church celebrates the Christmas season

St. Katharine´s, the Danish Church in London (consecrated in 1952), was built in 1826 as a chapel for The Royal Foundation of St. Katharine, but the Danish congregation in London goes all the way back to 1692. The Danish Seamen’s church in London operates from the same locality near Regent’s Park, caring for sailors and visiting ships in port with newspapers and books. Pastor Else Hviid tells Church News that the church much resembles a church in Denmark, with services in Danish and around 40 baptisms a year. A typical Anglo-Danish name this year was: Oliver John Elkjaer Sigrist. Not least bi-national marriages have resulted in a flourish of Danish language classes for over 100 children and 50 adults with 3 of the 8 classes having to share the sanctuary simultaneously. The church also works closely with the Danish YWCA in London, known locally as ‘K’, where this year’s Christmas bazaar had an impressive turnover of £57,618. The November 2009 calendar gives a good impression of a thriving church also outside the worship:
