Folkekirken.dk - now in English

08/11-2011

Long-awaited English version at Lutheranchurch.dk

“Welcome to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Denmark!
Whether you are familiar with the Church or new to and simply curious about what we in the Evangelical Lutheran Church believe, who we are, what we do and where to find us, we invite you to explore our website as well as church life in real life.”

These are the words that greet you when you log on to Lutheranchurch.dk, where there is now an English version that aims to supply ongoing information and answer all your queries. Now both English speakers in Denmark and visitors from around the world can find the information they need. There are four drop-down titles to take you further:

What we believe
Membership
Meet us
Find a church

Under each menu are several others. For example, if you click on Find a church you will come to a new page with the following options:

Danish Lutheran churches
Migrant churches
English services in Danish churches
The Danish church abroad

In a side menu you can acquire all the Danish vocabulary you need with English explanations under the side menu, Vocabulary

A church for everybody
Editor and former pastor, Ellen Aagaard Petersen, assisted by Lise Hedevang Nielsen, is the driving force behind the website and its English version. You can see them in the side menu under Contact.

Ellen Aagaard Petersen says:  ”The Danish Lutheran Church wishes to be a church for everybody in Denmark. We hope that the homepage will help the thousands of students, employees, refugees, who come to Denmark each year feel welcome in the Danish Church and can enjoy its fellowship if they so wish. Our next aim is to keep updating the page with service times and other events so the people can stay informed about what is happening in our churches.”
